Custom Waterjet Machines

Customers come to Ormond because commercially available waterjet machines cannot properly meet their specific requirements. The waterjet machine tools that are commercially available are produced to address the basic needs of a generic range of customers; namely small job shops. The Ormond staff was constructed to incorporate expertise that provides an exceptional ability to identify the complex needs of individual customers and to tailor machine tools to those needs, either by purchasing and modifying commercially available waterjet machines or by building custom machines from scratch.

The Ormond staff's extensive knowledge of waterjet machine tool design and advanced operational technologies, combined with a long history of operating custom machines in a production environment gives them a unique insight into the concerns and requirements of the customer.

Ormond technologists have many years of experience in advancing the capabilities of the abrasive-waterjet for precision applications.
Special tooling designed at Ormond reliably and economically enables production quantities numbering in the thousands to be machined with 2-axis to 5-axis tolerances of +/-0.001 inches (+/-0.025 mm). This is a significant advancement over the capabilities at other waterjet machine shops.
Large Scale Production Tooling

The major players in the waterjet machine tool market supply a standard listing of waterjet components and machine tools in order to address the needs of a broad mix of customers. These companies can offer only very limited support to customers who require custom tooling.

Engineers at Ormond understand the needs of businesses that perform long term, high volume production. There is a tremendous customer base that falls into this category ranging from the food industry, to textiles, ceramics and metals cutting. Businesses that perform long-term manufacturing require highly specialized tooling in order to support the high efficiency operations necessary in big production. It is not generally feasible for these businesses to purchase a standard commercially available waterjet machine tool for insertion into a production line. In addition, the expertise required to develop custom waterjet-based tooling is not readily available in today's market.

Ormond offers custom engineered manufacturing systems and periphery hardware to support large-scale production applications. Working with Ormond is the fastest and most economical means for manufacturing businesses to realize the advantages that waterjet machining can offer. In addition, the training and engineering support that Ormond offers allows the user to maintain cost efficiency through reduced consumable material costs, reduced scrap, and shortcut around the learning curve. All of this helps to prevent the introduction of the new waterjet workstation in the production atmosphere from driving unplanned expenses and schedule delays.

The Ormond support staff works with customers to determine optimal operating parameters for challenging production applications.
